Summer Bishil Bio

Summer Bishil was born in Pasadena, California. Her family and her relocated to the United States when she was just three. Summer was educated in American and British schools as her family was living overseas. She returned to Pasadena shortly before her 14th birthday. Enticed by the thought of acting since at the age of 5, Summer took her first acting class when she was 14 years old. Nine months after that, she signed with an agent/manager, and started her full-time profession. In her spare time she attends college and is striving to complete her degree. One of the "Ten Actors To Watch" by Variety (2007). Nominated for Best Actress – Spirit Award. When she was 14, Bishil started acting classes. Within a year, Bishil was signed to an agreement by a manager or agency. The first time she appeared in the short-lived Nickelodeon television show Just for Kicks, followed by appearances in several other children's shows.Bishil's most memorable performance was as the lead in Alan Ball's film, Towelhead in 2007, which was a re-telling of the novel of the same title. Dana Stevens, a Slate critic, claimed that "Her performance in a movie that , despite its best intentions feels thoroughly phony slightly embarrassing, like an extended PSA about inappropriate touching is the most truthful thing." Bob Strauss, a Los Angeles journalist for a newspaper, said that Bishil "...is one of the most talented natural actresses on film in recent times. In a September 12 Los Angeles Times review, Gary Goldstein stated that Summer Bishil who is a "...newcomer who is a newcomer, delivers an enthralling and confident performance in the role of Jasira. She was a part of Wayne Kramer's Crossing Over project in 2009 which starred Harrison Ford and Ray Liotta. Jay Reiner of the Associated Press liked her portrayal. She was picked to play Azula in M. Night Shyamalan's film The Last Airbender, and was slated to be the main focus of the planned but never-produced sequel.
