Maureen O'Hara Biography
Maureen O'Hara, an American actor and singer of Irish origin was a well-known character. The passionate, fiery role she played in a variety of American films attracted attention to the beautiful green eyed beauty. Her gorgeous look and natural beauty was well-loved. Her name was renowned in Hollywood as the "Queen of Technicolor". The characters she played on screen reflected her brave, strong spirit who fought to survive and gain recognition in a male-dominated society. She was referred to as the "tough Irish girl" and did not sacrifice her fame or her respect for the roles she deserved by merit. She was a vocal advocate for female actors in television and film, and gained a lot of followers because of it. The autobiography of her, "Tis Herself", was released in 2004. It was an honest and transparent description of her life, as well as the challenges she had to face as she climbed the ladder to success. She was an adventurous lady who was not afraid to perform herself stunts. She was a part of more than 60 films, and became a cult actor across the world. After her departure from Parra and her husband, she got married to Charles F. Blair Jr. in the year 1968. Blair was a brigadier in the past and chief pilot, and was an early pioneer in transatlantic aviation. O'Hara eventually retired after couple of years of marriage. Blair, however, died in a tragic plane crash in the year 1978. O'Hara's joy was only temporary. The same year, she was diagnosed with being a victim of uterine cancer, and was required undergo surgery immediately. She was successful in recovering. Her health deteriorated as time went by and she was later diagnosed with heart attacks that caused six and short-term memory loss, as well as diabetes mellitus type 2. O'Hara aged 95, passed away peacefully in Boise on the 24th of October, 2015.
