Padma Lakshmi Bio
Padma Parvati Lakshmi was conceived in Chennai, India on September 1st, 1970. Lakshmi lost her parents at the age of 2 years old. Her mother left India to avoid the stigma of divorce in India and moved to the United States. Lakshmi was a part of her maternal grandparents in Chennai for two years before joining her mother in the United States. The couple divorced and Lakshmi has a younger brother and sister. Lakshmi's name has been linked to the Hindu goddess, wealth and prosperity. Her birthplace was in New York and raised in Los Angeles. She traveled to India every year for several months to see her family. Padma Lakshmi started acting in 1999. She was first seen in the film "Figlio of Sandokan", which was an Italian pirate film. Next, she did a role in 'Caraibi' (Pirates: Blood Brothers), a drama about 17th century pirates. In 2001, she portrayed an amusing supporting role in the American film 'Glitter in which she was a disco-singing singer. Padma has a da
